Akash Dania, Ph.D., is a Professor of Finance at Delaware State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas–Pan American (now the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley). He previously served as Chair of the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance at Delaware State University, and as Director of Graduate Business Programs and Associate Professor of Finance at Alcorn State University. Dr. Dania has extensive teaching experience across graduate and undergraduate levels in finance, data analytics, and quantitative methods.
His research focuses on fintech, risk management, investing in emerging markets, real estate finance, and the financial implications of political uncertainty. He has authored over two dozen peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Journal of Wealth Management, Journal of Asset Management, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, and Journal of Economics and Finance. He has presented more than 50 papers at prominent conferences such as the Financial Management Association (FMA), Eastern Finance Association (EFA), Academy of International Business (AIB), and Academy of Economics and Finance (AEF).
Beyond academia, Dr. Dania brings expertise in academic program development, grant and contract evaluation, business consulting, and data analytics. He has conducted workshops on artificial intelligence and fintech, and his applied work emphasizes evaluating large-scale research initiatives, optimizing organizational strategy, and leveraging data-driven insights for financial and operational decision-making.
His research on faith-based mutual funds received the Irwin/McGraw-Hill Outstanding Paper Award at the 2013 Federation of Business Disciplines Conference. In 2015, he was honored with the Best Reviewer Award from the Academy of International Business.
